Located just 11 miles away, this is The NASCAR Circuit’s oldest and shortest track with 2 NASCAR Cup and Truck Series races each year. At .526 miles in length, Martinsville Speedway is the shortest track on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series circuit. Because of its small size, tight corners and unique shape – described most often as a paperclip – Martinsville offers some of the most exciting and close-quarters racing in the sport. Fans are closer to the action than any other track on the circuit. It is also one of the most modern, with high-rise aluminum chair back seating, corporate and fan suites and state-of-the-art facilities for the media. The track is also open daily for tours.

The SRSC is owned by the County of Henry, VA and managed by Henry County Parks and Recreation.

Philpott Lake – Fishing enthusiasts may visit, as seen on FLW Outdoors, the Philpott Lake. This is a 3,000 acre reservoir that is a renowned fishery for Walleye and Large and Smallmouth Bass. Smith River – Known for its native Brown Trout, fly fishermen can enjoy casting for these trout year round. Smith River Trail System – Hike the many trails or enjoy canoeing, biking and fishing on 16 areas of the trail system in Henry County.

Fairy Stone State Park is home of the mysterious “fairy stones.” It is one of the six original Virginia state parks to open on June 15, 1936. The treasured stone so prevalent in the region, beautiful scenery, rich history and ample recreational opportunities make Fairy Stone one of the favorites of park visitors. The park offers areas to picnick, camp, fish, boat, swim, hunt and cabin rentals.

The Dick and Willie Passage Rail Trail is a beautiful soon to be 11 mile paved rail trail that is located in Martinsville and Henry County. The trail begins at Virginia Avenue and will end at the Smith River Sports Complex. The trail can be accessed at one of six locations; Virginia Avenue, Liberty St., Doyle St., Fisher St., Spruce St. and the Smith River Sports Complex. This trail is great for walking, biking, running or rollerblading. This trail is part of the former Danville and Western Railroad. Train enthusiasts will enjoy reading stories about the history of the rail line on the many signs located along the trail. Free bikes on loan at Bike MHC.
